Part 2: Have a Love Affair with my Print Lab!

You hire a photographer, not a fileographer.  I give you the digital files, because I appreciate how convenient they are to look at anytime and store. But I would be letting you down if I wasn’t helping you figure out what to do with the amazing artwork I’ve created for you.

My families now come away with print products to enjoy with minimal effort

I totally understand how busy our kids keep us! That’s actually that’s why I love to help with complimentary printing advice. All you have to do is tell me about the space in your home you plan to display your photos, and then have a quick catch up to order the products that make sense for YOU.  I’ll take care of everything! I’m also more than happy to do custom orders when I can, for products you’ve seen somewhere else.

See it before you buy it

It can be hard to imagine what your favourite images will look like framed and hanging on your wall. You can go back and forth and never feel certain until you actually see the finished products! I have this software I’m so excited about, because it lets me show you how awesome your wall art will look on your OWN WALL (!!) before you purchase anything.

1. My favourite product: Layflat Photo Albums

These albums are a stunningly beautiful way keep your special memories accessible, rather than buried on a hard drive.  I love these albums so much, they are complimentary with every newborn session! Prices for other sessions start from just $160 for a 20 page album (which creates 10 double-spreads or page turns).

  • Prints are pressed onto 5mm mounting card. This gives thick pages, which won’t bend or wrinkle with each opening
  • A special binding allows the book to fully open (‘lay-flat’) without creasing the pages.

2. Fine Art Prints for Wall Art

Fine-art prints are the sweet spot if you’re wanting stunningly beautiful large wall art of those extra special images. The paper I use is Moab Somerset Museum Rag (300gsm) archival 100% cotton paper. Basically, you’ll feel like you’re seeing the moment happen in real life!  Fine-art prints start from $80

  • Deep rich blacks and bright whites for eye-popping B&W prints
  • A stunning colour range which will light up a room
  • No shine (compared to photo paper), so your print won‘t ’glimmer’ or reflect the light in the room

3. Professional prints for display and gifts

This is not meant to be a sales pitch, but why would you pay a photographer to take your images, and then print the ones you love most on standard kiosk printers? The difference in end product is huge. Your digital files are best for scrapbooking and storing. Pro-print packages start from $45

I bring these samples to your session, so you can see the difference between a kiosk printer (top) and professional print (bottom). The blacks are richer, the skin tones true, and the colours don’t have a blue tint. I know the colours I see on my computer screen will match what I get from my pro-print lab.

Last word: I’m your photographer first and last; you’ll never sit through a pressured products sell (or soppy music accompanying the slideshow!).

Look out for PART 3 in next weeks blog, where I’ll share all my tips on creating a wall gallery of your favourite images
